Drone Footage in Japan’s Urban Areas

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) in Japan requires permits for drone footage  in all urban areas.  

Below is a link to the restricted areas for drone filming.  Please note that is for illustrative purposes only and that anyone considering using drones in Japan should check with MILT if a permit is required.

The link below provides the restricted red zones over each city across Japan. It will be illegal if our contributors fly drones over the city and film without permission from the government over the red zones on the map. That link is provided here:

This means that any drone footage that did not get the necessary permits from MILT would not be available for RF editorial or RF creative.
