St. Gereon’s Basilica is a Roman Catholic church located in Cologne, Germany. Reference to a church at this site holding the name of St. Gereon’s dates back as early as 612, however the structure seen today is highly irregular, and the product of years of periodic additions to the building, said to have begun in 1151 under Archbishop Arnold II von Wied.
